Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
