Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
This update on his health follows the boxing community had expressed its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
